This is Andy's friend Monica.
Andy loves to play with Monica.
It is so neat to watch the two of them
grow and develop together.
They are 8 weeks apart in age.

Goodbye Green Oven!

Well our Avacado Green Oven
decided it was time for
retirement!

So out went the oven,

and the tile...

Most standard free-standing ovens are 30" wide. But not our oven. It is called a drop in oven, similar to a slide in oven, both of which are 29" wide. So we were un able to put in a cheap used oven - not without a whole lot of effort on our part.

So we started searching for a drop in or slide in oven, but they are about $1500.00. Yikes!! Then Nathan found a used glass top, double oven with self-cleaning as a feature (better insulation) for only $75.00. What a steal! So what is the catch? No catch she (the lady who sold it to us) said. Somebody owed her money, so they gave her the semi-new oven. She would have used the oven herself, but had a nice gas unit.

So, then we had to put in that effort we were avoiding above. To fit the new free standing oven, we would need to move our cabinet over 7/8". Yup!

Here is Nathan removing the cabinet, then repositioning it - less than an inch over!
Well the oven works GREAT! All the burners on top, and both ovens are clean and in excellent condition.

But here is where the "CATCH" comes in to play.
The lady who sold the oven said she had the oven for about a year. She stored the oven outside under her carport, hidden from the weather. But not hidden from little tiny mice. Yup Mice. And what do mice do best? Poop and pee of course. And where better to poop and pee then in the tiny spaces between the ovens and the inner wall!!!
After heating up the oven two times, the smell- well I will spare you all and not go into too much detail. All I can say is yucky!!!! So unbelievably yucky, that my new oven is yet again out side.
Once we order insulation from online, remove all the stinky insulation, and replace the insulation, will I say "what a good buy"? I sure hope so......
